Built Around a Passion for Board-Level Repair

IT Defib started with a genuine interest in how things actually fail. Working as an electronics technician, I found myself drawn to the fault-finding side of the job — tracing a problem back to a single failed component on a board, rather than simply replacing whole assemblies. That process of narrowing down a fault to its root cause is what led me to specialise in board-level, component-level diagnostics and repair.

Over time, that specialisation became the focus of my work. I spent years working specifically on motherboard-level repair — power faults, short circuits, damaged connectors and the kind of detailed rework that most workshops don't have the time, equipment or specific experience to take on.

I established IT Defib to turn that specialisation into a dedicated repair service available throughout New Zealand. There wasn't a lot of accessible, specialist board-level repair capability for repair businesses to call on locally — many devices were simply being written off, or replaced outright, with the underlying board-level faults never looked at closely.

IT Defib was built to solve that specific problem: a specialist repair partner that repair businesses can rely on, with clear communication, honest assessments and a faster path back to their customer — plus a straightforward mail-in option for individuals who need the same level of expertise directly.
